True Own Occupation

True Own Occupation disability coverage is the most popular among dentists. If you are unable to perform the duties of your occupation due to an illness or injury, but you are able to perform the duties of another occupation other than dentistry, you will still be able to collect your disability benefit. You can be employed in any other occupation outside of the defined occupation on your application. An example of true own occupation is if you are unable to perform chairside dentistry but are able to teach at a dental school; because you have True Own Occupation disability insurance, you are able to collect both incomes.
